Anderson Silva wants Roy Jones.....in boxing

If it was MMA that would be understandable, but for Anderson Silva to want to fight Roy Jones Jr in boxing, as MMAweekly is reporting, is a really gutsy move. If he wanted to fight a pro boxing bout against a newcomer it'd be one thing, but to take on a top flight and highly skilled veteran in Jones is a quite a step up for an MMA champion. Nonetheless it'd be an interesting fight to see and I'd definitely watch it. Silva would be a heavy underdog, and in a sports world where you're only as good as your last performance, many non MMA fans may look down upon Silva and the sport if he were to lose. So it could be a risky fight from a PR perspective in that sense, but nonetheless it would get Silva's name out there into the boxing community, and he surely doesn't concern himself too much what other people think at this point. His legacy in MMA has been solidified and nobody can touch it at this point.

This is something that most likely has been simmering in the mind of Silva for a while, as I recall even back in the Pride FC days, commentator Stephen Quadros noting that Silva described himself as "The Roy Jones of Vale Tudo."

If this fight does happen it would make for a very interesting and hyped up fight.
