Diego Sanchez prevails in lightweight debut at UFC 95

Losing over 37 pounds in less than 2 months proved to be a fruitful endeavor for the UFC's newest lightweight contender, Diego Sanchez. The former welterweight turned 155er showed ability to adapt to his new weight class as he outpointed veteran and talented lightweight Joe "Daddy" Stevenson. The fight took place mostly on the feet and Sanchez was able to outpoint his opponent to score the unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 95 at the O2 Arena.

Sanchez expressed interest in fighting Kenny Florian or BJ Penn after the bout. He also said he would fight at 170 to avenge losses to Josh Koscheck as well as fight Thiago Alves at welterweight if the opportunity arose.
