Hughes' book is worth a read

matt-hughes-book.jpg Matt Hughes' book "Made in America" is an interesting read. One of the better aspects of it is getting his perspective on different fights. Fighters are required to be candid leading up to bouts and avoid giving away gameplans, so it's good to get a sense of what Hughes was thinking before, during and after key moments in his career in the cage. His dislike for Frank Trigg leading up to his bout with him and during his second bout is discussed, his thoughts and feelings on fight 1 and 2 with BJ Penn are noted, as well as his up and down relationship with Randy Couture. Fighters often appear as supermen in the cage with their grandiose athletic exploits, so it's interesting to see the human side of them.

Like him or not, Hughes tells things the way he sees them, which makes him an interesting and polarizing figure in MMA. His book is an extension of that personality.
