Patrick Cote: A man driven

Proving others wrong is strong source of motivation for some, and it will be a huge one tonight as Patrick Cote takes on Anderson Silva at UFC 90. Written off by much of the MMA media as already having been defeated before entering the cage (planning and speculating about future fights for Silva), Cote hasn't been happy at all as he has been vastly ignored as to even have a chance to win tonight. You can understand both points of view. Cote while being thought of by many to be entering his own funeral tonight, has noted that he is not dead yet and should be given a lot more respect. It's definitely a fair argument. At the same time, you can understand why much of the media has had a strong slant to towards favoring Silva heavily as he has been on one of the most dominant and destructive reigns in the UFC.

Nonetheless, aside from the natural motivation any MMA fighter has to win, the fact that this is a title shot and a chance for a dream to come true for Cote, the factor in sticking it in all those who doubted him and wrote him of before he entered the cage is a gigantic element that will motivate Cote tonight. In addition to talent, will all this hunger from Cote be enough to dethrone the seemingly invincible Silva? We'll find out tonight.
