The Case for Sherk

While BJ Penn is the favorite on betting lines and evidently the fan favorite for many MMA enthusiasts worldwide, Sean Sherk is a huge test for the current lightweight champ. The main argument a Sherk supporter would put forth is the cardio factor. Well known for a solid work ethic, Sherk has the ability to go 100% for the full 25 minutes. His fans would question Penn's cardio and assess that he might have the ability to go 100% for the first couple rounds, but afterwards he will slow down. So if Sherk handles the Penn blitzkrieg we're using to seeing in the beginning of the fight, the championship rounds could be for Sherk's taking. Sherk has stated Penn is an amazing athlete, but argues he himself is also equally talented, but has the heart and mental game in check, while he asserts Penn doesn't. In the past Penn has shown the propensity to slow down and lose his focus when the latter stages of a fight unfold. Sherk will likely look to put this theory to the test and drag the bout into the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds.
