Time is now to get Fedor

Fedor versus Randy would have been a classic fight for the ages, but after Couture was taken out by Brock Lesnar, that match no longer has as much cache as it once did. The same could happen should the UFC not be able to sign Fedor. Although Fedor is a favorite against Josh Barnett, a fight is a fight and anything can happen, especially a very talented and experience competitor like Josh Barnett, who is continually improving, to defeat Fedor. And at the same time if Lesnar takes on the winner of Shane Carwin and Cain Velasquez, one of those solid heavyweights could potentially dethrone Lesnar as well. Right now neither looks stoppable in their current realms of combat--Affliction and the UFC. They appear on a collision course but this is the fight game and there are many fighters along that path which can knock things in a completely different direction.

Right now is the perfect time to set up Fedor and Lesnar, should Fedor get by Josh Barnett on August 1st.

Obviously the UFC is very aware of this fact and are trying to secure the Russian, but I just hope they're able to come to an agreement with Fedor and finally land the heavyweight. If they can't get him then they're really hoping Barnett scores an upset against devastating heavyweight and finally have all the fans get off their back about not being able to sign who many consider the best heavyweight and possibly the greatest fighter of all time.
